Last year, I was honored to be interviewed by Attachment Styles and Life Transitions Coach and Mentor, Michelle Cappelli Gordon. Michelle wanted to ask me about the first book in my Power of You series, Learning How To Leave. Here is the first part of the interview reproduced in full with Michelle’s kind permission.

This is part 1 of a 2 part interview with psychotherapist and author Michael Padraig Acton. Here we talk about his top-selling book in the UK which is about to launch in the US, “Learning How to Leave.” Dr. Acton has over 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, legal consultant, and author of several books. He has handled many high-profile cases including celebrities and members of royalty. I was honored to have this time with him as we both share a passion for raising awareness about narcissism in order to empower those who are troubled by them.

If you would like to understand narcissism and the dynamic between narcissists and codependents, this is a must-read. I have read numerous books and articles on narcissism and I find that Dr. Acton articulates many aspects in a simple yet profound way.

More about Michelle

Michelle specialises in relationship dynamics, identity and overall personal development. She is skilled in coaching clients on topics such as toxic patterns, life transitions, confidence, narcissism, and grief. She believes happiness and fulfillment begin with personal awareness and the willingness to practice new ways of thinking. Teaching about how thoughts and beliefs shape our lives, Michelle embraces the science of Neuroplasticity to facilitate positive change for her clients.

“I do what I do because I want to be for others, what I so very much needed in my life. I don’t want anyone to take the long, lonely, painful path that I took.  I want them to discover, understand, heal, and become empowered to move on and live their desired life. I help people do that. I know how because I’ve been there, and I’ve done it.”
